Why is 2017 so important?

2017 is our year to #UniteForParkinsons and we invite you to join us in supporting a global campaign to raise awareness and funds to find a cure for Parkinson’s.

However, we need greater community awareness of Parkinson’s and more funds to find a cure.

Last year we joined with others in the community to fund such research projects, including a diagnostic test being developed here in Melbourne. This year we have committed a further $500,000 in research projects and hope to grow that to $1,000,000 with your help.

Funding for Parkinson’s research supports improved quality of life for people living with the condition, and the search for a cure.

The #UniteForParkinsons campaign aims to raise an unprecedented amount of awareness by using social media, local events and activities in our community. On this website you will find details on how you can actively support the campaign – by attending, holding and supporting events – as well as using your social media to spread the message that 200 years is too long.

With 27,000 people in Victoria living with Parkinson’s and many more being diagnosed every week, our aim is to represent as many people with Parkinson’s as possible with a handprint on a giant canvas, to be publicly unveiled on World Parkinson’s Day (Tuesday 11th April 2017). For a small donation, you too can stamp your part to raise awareness of Parkinson’s and the need for a cure. More details of the #UniteCanvas

So please join us – sign up, donate, come along, #share and invite others to join us too – as we #UniteForParkinsons. All funds raised from the campaign will help us to continue to fund ground-breaking research into diagnosis, improved treatments and a cure for Parkinson’s.
